File Buddy offers a wide variety of options for using names in searches. Some options, such as use a single text string. Others, such as require more than one text string. The name text box expands to allow multiple lines of text when appropriate. The text box’s help tag is updated whenever the name option changes and will explain how the text in the text box will be used for that option.
In addition to the normal text matching options, File Buddy offers the following addtional options:
The name text box’s contextual menu contains several predefined regexp searches. Load any one of them by choosing it from the menu. Press the Option key while the menu is open to view the regular expressions they use.
The text must be a number between 1 and 254. Items whose names contain this many or fewer characters will not be returned. The most common case would be to search for items whose names contain more than 31 characters because such names can cause problems in versions of the Mac OS prior to Mac OS X.
By default, searches are not case sensitive. If you only want a name to be considered a match when the case matches, check this box.
